Remember When...

Husband and I recently celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary. Whew! Only 4 years? It seems like it should be longer...in a good way of course! I had been racking my brain for weeks trying to come up with a great gift idea for Husband, but I kept drawing a blank. He doesn't really need anything and if he wants something, he usually buys it himself. I wanted my gift to be creative and low-cost. A couple days before our anniversary, I heard the song "Remember When" by Alan Jackson on the radio. I love this song. It is one of my all time favourites! Listening to this song sparked an idea and I finally knew what to get Husband! I took a bunch of index cards and wrote "Remember When..." at the top. Then on each card, I wrote one memory from our four years of marriage. I went through Facebook photos and blog posts to come up with some long-forgotten memories. In total, I wrote out 25 memories. The morning of our anniversary, while Husband was out for his run, I taped the cards throughout our place. I put them in places I knew he would see during the day: on a box of cereal; on the TV; on his laptop; on the milk; in the bathroom. When he got back from his run, I handed him a note that told him what I had done. Unfortunately, I failed to explain that my intent was for him to find the various cards as he went about his day. About 30 minutes later, I got a phone call from him telling me that he had found all the cards. He was never one for waiting! Despite the miscommunication, I think I did pretty well in the gift department. The cards are still sitting on our coffee table, and I'd like to think it's because he loves them so much and not because his is too lazy to put them elsewhere!
