Update

Update: It's been 6 weeks since my surgery. I went back to work after 4 weeks. The first week back was difficult. I was tired and sore at the end of each day. This last week was a bit better. I still get sore around the incision site if I do too much. The area around the incision is still numb, which poses a problem because I can't wear jeans or slacks yet. They put too much pressure on the incision area and that causes pain, so I have been living in my yoga pants for 6 weeks. I am so ready to be healed, and am getting very impatient. Husband and I have come to the conclusion that we grossly underestimated how major this surgery was! And the recovery? Oh man! The doctor said it would be 4 weeks before I would up to doing regular activities again. I remember thinking that I would be good to go after 2 weeks! Silly, silly me!

Despite the major surgery and the long recovery, I am counting my blessings. The surgery was successful, and I am recovering well. I have amazing women from church who can cook amazing meals! We would have starved without them! I have a great husband who took care of me. He spent both nights with me in the hospital. When we returned home, I couldn't get in to our bed because of the pain, so I slept on the couch for a few nights. Husband slept on the floor, right next to me, ready to help me when I needed it. He did dishes, cleaned the house, and kept me drugged. I tried to get him to wear one of those sexy nurse uniforms, but he refused. That was probably for the best anyway.
